The Islands Deal proposals are being driven by a diverse group of highly committed partners from our islands' business and community sectors, public agencies and academic and research institutions, working in partnership with a range of major Scottish and UK universities, businesses and national agencies.
The Deal is being led by the three island councils - Shetland Islands Council, Orkney Islands Council and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar. Over the ten-year period of the Growth Deal, we will work closely with the UK and Scottish Governments to deliver this investment into our island communities.
The three island councils have been working together on an Islands Growth Deal for a number of years following successful joint working on the ‘Our Islands, Our Future’ campaign. We have put in place a joint governance structure to manage the Deal, supported by a Programme Management Office.
